As the World marked World Environment Day on 5th June, 2025, with a global focus on Ending Plastic Pollution, EAPC in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Trade & Investments and SAGA’s, planted over 10,000 trees at our Athi River factory to commemorate World Environment Day. This is in line with our commitment to support the National goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032. The event was graced by Dr. Juma Mukhwana, the Principal Secretary, State Department for Industry, alongside the EAPC Management team, CEO, SCRAP METAL COUNCIL KENYA, Mr. David Rono. Add the other CEOs present.
Speaking during the event, Dr. Juma Mukhwana emphasized the government’s commitment to growing and nurturing trees as a strategy to combat the effects of global warming. He noted that the Ministry continues to support tree planting efforts across the country, and reiterated that this initiative aligns with the national goal of making Kenya a greener and more sustainable nation.
The key objectives of World Environment Day are to promote and and advocate for action whereby each and everyone comes together to make sure that climate change and other environmental challenges are addressed. Whether it is waste collection, segregation, tree planting to cover areas that have been depleted of greenery or educating our people on the importance of recycling plastics, we are committed to being part of the solution, recognizing that a healthy environment is crucial for a sustainable future for all.
